Hi all
I have recently been diagnosed with signet ring adenocarcinoma of the stomach. I’m a 50yr old Female and believe from my research that this is a very rare cancer especially in women. I was also diagnosed and treated for an unrelated breast cancer 7yrs ago. The stomach surgeon said he was seeing more stomach cancers in women who had previously had breast cancer so I wonder if anyone has read anything about this?
I’ve had surgery for my stomach cancer and have been told I won’t need chemo. I’m relieved that it was caught early but understand it’s a very invasive cancer which is often hard to detect, this scares me!
Aside from this I’m feeling like I might never be able to work full time again. I lost 90% of my stomach therefore am only able to take in a max of 1400 calories a day. I worry I won’t have the energy to work full time in the job I love. I’ve lost 2st so am now 2st underweight as I was my ideal weight before surgery.
I would be grateful for any good after surgery/treatment stories or advice.
Thank you for the space to vent!
Hi Nanto n welcome to the community, the club nobody really wants to join.
Can I suggest u repost this in the Stomach cancer group?
That way, you'll get support from those who are in a similar position to yourself.
Also, could u add a bit to your profile, so u don't have to repeat yourself?
The Helpline may well b able to give u advice re work and finances. It's open 8am to 8pm on 0808 808 0000
Hello , and a second welcome from me to the online community, I had a little peak at your latest activity and see that you have joined the stomach cancer group and have replied to a post, well done you for joining in. I haven’t got any knowledge on your rare cancer but entered signet ring in the search bar and came across 2 others and from a year ago also searching like you for others, they don’t seem to have posted recently but I hope this tag may notify them so that you could maybe get some support on this site from them.
It is helpful if people put something in their profile as it can often be of help to others seeking similar experiences, I often click there to see a bit more than what’s in a single post as it often helps when answering. To complete a profile just click on your user name or picture and press edit write what ever you are comfortable with, if you click on mine it’s very long but doesn’t have to be, there are no rights or wrongs except to keep safe on line there’s more info in the help section if you need it.
I hope the community gives you the help your seeking.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
