Hi everyone,

I’m new here and just wanted to say hi Wave and introduce myself.

I’m a 32 year old woman with two daughters and a fantastic husband.

At the beginning of August I had two moles removed which were very suspicious looking and feeling. I’m due to get my results on Monday afternoon and am a little anxious.

I’m not really sure what to expect on Monday!

I hope everyone is doing ok on here and look forward to meeting new people and sharing experiences.

  • Hi mh20 n welcome to the community, the " club" nobody really wants to join.

Having said that, u will find us a friendly bunch n once u have a diagnosis you'll b able to join the relevant group for your cancer type n get support from others in s similar situation to u.

Good luck for Monday. Let us know how u get on x

Fear of the unknown is the worst thing. Once we know what we're facing, we find the strength to deal with it.
  • Hello MH20, I am new here myself. My sister has two kinds of cancer and that is why I am here. But when I read what you said I felt a personal response. When I was your age I was having marital problems and went to see a psychiatrist on the 22nd of December. We were talking and she interrupted me twice because she was sure that a mole on my face was melanoma. They are also MD's. At her insisistance I saw a surgeon the next morning and he felt the same that it was melanoma. I was terrified. He spoke privately with my husband. The next two days were unbearable but the doctor called at noon on Christmas Eve to say the mole was benign. We had a wonderful Christmas and it has nothing to do with material things.

I pray this helps you in some way. That is my hope. Of course we all have our own walk to walk but we are here for you. We are here for each other.

  • Hi and another welcome to the online community

I totally understand what an anxious time this is for you as 3 years ago I was in the position you are now. Unfortunately, my lesion did turn out to be melanoma but your's might not.

If you do get the results you don't want then please do come and join us over in the melanoma group where you can benefit from the experiences and support of others with this diagnosis.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself or post a question after selecting 'start a discussion' or join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

If you are diagnosed with melanoma then your consultant will explain that the next step is to have a wide local excision (WLE). This is to ensure that no cancer cells have been left behind and is usually done under a local anaesthetic, just like your original excision. Depending on how deep the melanoma is you should also be offered an optional sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB).

I won't go into any more details yet until we know whether you have melanoma or not. If you are able to take someone with you to the appointment tomorrow that would be really great as you may have a lot of information to take in and two sets of ears are better than one!

I'll be keeping everything crossed for you tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for all of the welcomes Blush

I received my results today. The mole on my leg was a dysplastic mole so I’m glad it’s gone!

the mole on my back came back as inconclusive and was sent for expert testing. I don’t have any results for it yet and am expecting them next week so I have yet another wait on my hands.

I suppose it’s good news today but I’d like to be finished with it all!

I should have mentioned in my original post that I take immunosuppressants which increase my chances of skin cancers.

  • That's good news about the mole on your leg !

Waiting for results is always horrible so why don't you come and wait with us over in the melanoma group where you'll find others who are waiting for their results.
