Hello Comrades

I have been diagnosed with rectal cancer/ it’s 4cm about 10 cms up. Today was my first appointment with the wonderful consultant. I had a colonoscopy about a month ago - they found the malignant tumour then. They have since found a spot on my liver following my MRI and CT scan and I’m now being sent for PET scan and another MRI. (Before they decide on treatment plan). This should all happen in the next two weeks.

I don’t mind admitting I’m devastated. For my husband and children (16 and 8).

Regarding the coming months but I wanted to join the group for some solidarity.

I hope I can share here and I am primarily interested in how people have coped with this particular diagnosis (sorry to hear you have this too) and how their/your various treatments have gone.

*I am 48, symptoms were bleeding, extreme fatigue- but had piles since children

Thanks in advance,

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community although I'm sorry you've had to find us.

There's nothing better than being able to share experiences and get support from others who will understand what you're going through. I see that you've joined the bowel cancer group and I'm sure if you post in that group you will get plenty of support. Clicking on the link I've created will take you back there.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
