I had a CA125 of 172 and had an ultrasound where they found 2 ovarian cysts on each ovary which are small. I also had a womb biopsy for which I am awaiting results it has been two weeks and I am beside myself with worry my consultant has asked for another CA125 which I had done yesterday. He’s saying he hopes that will normalise which means I can have another scan in 2 months to see if the cysts have grown. Otherwise it’s more serious than we thought! I’m going to be a basket case in 2 months thinking they don’t know if they are cancerous yet? He has also asked for a bowel biopsy as my symptoms are projectile vomiting and loose stools as well as wetting myself last week, severe flooding when on a period, bloated stomach excruciating stomach cramps and frequently urinating. The waiting has sent me into overdrive and has made me have severe anxiety which I suffer from anyway! Is this a normal reaction from the consultant because I still have no results and answers and it’s been 2 weeks. He also thinks I may have late onset menopause which is a rare form of menopause as I’m 54. However I still don’t know if I have cancer?! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi Claire and welcome to the community, even if means you're a member of a club no one wants to join.
Have you considered ringing your consultant's secretary or cancer support nurse re the 2 month delay? Or even asking your GP to do so for you. I can well imagine how the waiting must make you feel. Are you on meds re your anxiety?
Meanwhile you could " Ask a nurse" or ring the helpline 0808 808 0000 , 8am to 8pm about your symptoms. It sounds like the consultant is doing his best to get to the bottom of things, but of course it all takes time.
I see you've also posted on the CRUK website, so I hope you get answers soon from one site or the other.
Have you joined any groups on here yet? Try the Womb cancer group n the Bowel cancer group
Above all, don't start googling!
I have rang the secretary and the results were not in for womb biopsy. I rang yesterday but it rang off. I am waiting for the CA125 to come in for confirmation of wait on whether the cysts grow or not. Otherwise a biopsy will be done on them. I am now waiting for a bowel biopsy in 3 weeks time. So much waiting is agonising. I am on meds the doctor gave me today for anxiety thanks for replying Claire
While u wait ,u could look at the thread Anxiety buster posted by Ethelmay. There are a no of suggestions there on how to distract yourself while u wait for results
Hi and a second welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear that your're currently waiting for the results of a womb biopsy and that you also have to go for a bowel biopsy.
Waiting for the results of tests and waiting for further investigations is always stressful and there's no easy answer. I immersed myself in my hobbies to stop my mind from spending too much time worrying, other people throw themselves into their work or clean the house from top to bottom. A friend over in the melanoma group only allows herself 10 minutes a day to worry at a set time and then will not think about cancer again. You just need to find something that works for you.
Unfortunately, it can take several weeks of tests before the consultants will have enough information to know what they are dealing with. If it is found that you have cancer then it's important that they know exactly what they are dealing with so that the correct treatment is given.
While you're waiting for your results could I suggest that you join the womb cancer group. This isn't because I think this is what you have but so that you can chat to other people who will understand what you're going through at the moment and who will be able to share their experiences with you as well as give you support.
To join this group just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself or post a question after selecting 'start a discussion' or join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
