Hi,
Can anyone please suggest any medication that has helped with pain relief for bowel and rectum cancer. My father has been diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer and is in significant amount of pain that is not being managed well with any prescribed medication. He has tried gabapentin, Pregabalin and morphine but none have worked successfully. They believe it is neuropathic pain which is caused by the tumour on the bowel. Can anyone help who has experienced anything like this and what has worked successfully them? Thank you in advance.
Hi
Welcome to the online community and I am sorry to read about the ongoing pain with his bowel cancer but I regret that we, as volunteers, are not medically trained and are unable to give advice about medication however I note that you have asked the same question on our Ask a Nurse page and hopefully they might have an answer for you but I do suspect they will refer you back to your dads GP or hospital medical team.
Although we can't help with this question we can give advice on other problems that may arise and please feel to ask any questions that you may have, the members of this group are very friendly and extremely supportive of each other and will share their experiences with you.
I hope your dad manages to get some relief from the pain very soon.
Ian
