Hi all, just a newbie here, looking forward to sharing my experiences and hopefully find some friends along the way.

I do feel a bit of a fraud, as I had a tumour removed from my brain about 6 weeks ago, thankfully it was benign.

However, I'm experiencing excruciating headaches on the side and back of my head. I'm also getting a lot of blurry vision in my right eye same side as craniotomy..

I'm not finding my GPS very supportive as far as answers as to why this is happening and I don't have an appointment with my consultant for another 5 weeks..

Otherwise iv been recovering well, getting stronger every week and starting to get some energy back..

I'm actually hoping to get back to work in a week..

  • Hi Jules  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear that you have had a tumour removed and you are having some issues but as you say, talking with others can help.

I see you have found our Brain tumours Forum This would be the best place to connect with people who understand the journey you are on.

Follow the link above and go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab just under the main group name and set up your own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group - you could just copy an paste what you have in this first post.

You may find our various Macmillan Support Line Services to be helpful - call them on 0808 808 00 00This free service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link.

We also have our ‘Ask an Expert’. section where you can post questions to our mostly Volunteer Experts but please allow 2 working days to get a reply.

Talking to people face to face can help a lot so check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Supportin your area or a Maggie’s Centre as these folks are amazing.

    All the very best.

  • Hi Jules, u might find it useful to join the Brain tumours group, so u can be in touch with ppl who've had a similar experience

It sounds very optimistic hoping to be back at work in a week, especially with the symptoms u describe. Can you do a phased return? Are u on any steroids? It could be you have swelling where the tumour was removed n that's what giving you  the headaches and blurry vision.

You might want to ask the advice of the helpline on  0808 808 0000 re your symptoms and going back to work so soon.
