Hi I'm really sorry it's a long one ,7 years ago i was diagnosed with Eccrine Porocarcinoma it presented itself as a tumour in my right armpit which was removed and the surrounding area was clear , i was told at the time it was a very rare one and that my Surgeon knew nothing really about it, i had the same answer form the Oncologist , after the op i was a little tight in the area and i had no other treatment , i went every 3 months initially to the hospital alternating appointments between the Surgeon and Oncologist , at the time i asked if i would have a regular 6month or yearly scan and was told no there would be no need , 2 years ago i was discharged . I have always had a slight ache and throbbing now and again in my armpit but was always told it would be normal as there was a lot removed ,at the end of Feb this year this throb got more achy and turn to quite bad pain , i visited my GP 4 times 2 emergency and 2 regular appointments and saw 2 different Drs who told me that it was definitely not cancer and one even saying i'd had the other cancer way to long ago for it to be back, and the other prescribing me with Gabapentin because she said it was nerve pain, in the end i was taking Paracetamol , Ibruprofen and 60mg of Codeine and it still didn't take away the pain .Thank god i persevered and kept going back and insisting something was not right ! on the 3rd June i was referred for a scan , the results came back and yes it was cancer again but they were not sure whether it was the same one again or a new one , i saw the same Surgeon as last time it was the same as last time and he was going to have to remove all the nymph nodes in my right armpit , within 3 weeks my life and my family's life was turned upside down , i am a Hairdresser and we need our arms ! i have had to close my salon after 16 years of ownership as i couldn't tell anyone how long i would be off , there was no time to sell it either , and the landlady has now rented the space to someone else . I had the operation on the 1st of July , i had a 7cm tumour taken out of the top lymph node and surrounding areas the Surgeon has informed me that he had to take nerves as well and i have damaged muscles (the main one in your back) i still have a drain in the site which is really starting to get to me ,i can hardly move my arm at all upwards or outwards i also have a very strange numbness from my armpit to my elbow across my breat and down my side this numbness is a strange on because it feels almost like a dead arm and when you touch the areas almost feels like i prickly warm sensation .. i have been told my arm will always be like that , has anyone else had all lymph nodes taken and had damage done to nerves and muscles , i cant get comfortable sitting or lying for long , some good new though the cancer wasn't in all the nodes , but this time when i have healed more i will be having a course of radiotherapy, again i'm sorry for the long post.
