Hi everyone, pleased to meet you all. Wave  Have a question I hope someone may be able to answer given that I probably won't be seeing my oncologist until end of August.

Yesterday I completed 6 cycles of chemo (4 x Carbo/Taxol and 2 x Cisplatin/Taxol), so firstly yay me, lol!  I have been in need of urgent dental treatment, (multiple extractions and obtaining a full lower denture), but the docs wouldn't hear of it during my chemo, (which has been going on since Feb due to many deferrals), because of the the high risk of infection.    Does anyone know how long after you finish chemo you are safe to have these sort of procedures.  I presume it's a question of how long does it take to start getting over the chemo drugs?

Any advice would be much appreciated, cheers peeps. Relaxed

  • Hi and firstly a welcome to the community. Good to know you have finished chemo. I hope it went well for you. Could I point out we have an Ask a dentist  group. If you post your question there, you will get expert advice. Also, if you let us know what you are being treated for, we can point you to the relevant group where you can get help, advice and support from others with experience of the same. Wising you well. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

Hi rily, thanks for the welcome.

Yes, I'm being treated for Ovarian cancer - diagnosed last Nov and had a full Hysterectomy at the Christie in Manchester in December. The chemo started beginning of March.

I'll go and have a look in the Ask a Dentist group, many thanks and best wishes to you too.

  • Hi . You may like to join the Ovarian Group . Some of the ladies there may be having the same treatment and can support and advise you. You could start a new discussion or maybe join in on some of the current conversations. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
