My friend was diagnosed with pseudomyxoma. We live in Mongolia. Unfortunately, there is no treatment in our country. As my friend does not speak English I am trying to get more information and financial support, as I heard that the treatment is very expensive. My friend is a good husband and a farther of 3 children. He is dedicated to his family and friends does everything for their well being.

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to hear that your friend has been diagnosed with pseudomyxoma and that there is no treatment available in Mongolia.

I have found this information for you about pseudomyxoma peritonei and you may benefit from joining the pseudomyxoma peritonei group where you can ask questions about this type of cancer.

There is also a group called living with cancer outside the UK and you might find someone from Mongolia is a member there.

If you'd like to join both or either of these groups click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the pages that open.

I think your friend will need to speak to their doctor to find out where people with this cancer go to for treatment if they live in Mongolia.

Although it's been suggested that your phone the Macmillan Support Line for financial advice, unfortunately I don't think they'd be able to give you any advice about what is available where your friend lives. Do you have any type of welfare department in Mongolia who can tell your friend what financial assistance they are entitled to?

Wishing you and your friend all the best.
