Hi
Finding it hard to get the relevent information on this.
My dad has just finished radiotherapy for lung cancer. He is otherwise unwell due to COPD, pad, and a few other conditions. Where he lives it has a communal back garden shared between 4 Tennant's. A lady has recently moved in with cats.
My question is... Will cat poo/urine have any affect on my dad's recovery? Is it going to make him sick if he continues using the communal garden? Is there precautions he should take? neighbour is allowing and encouraging her cats on to the garden to use as a toilet. He and other residents have enjoyed their peaceful environment for years without anyone's pets. This lady was politely asked not to have her cats using it as a toilet but her reply is "well it's nature and I am not prepared to compromise on anything" another neighbour has stopped his grandchildren playing out there. There's no animosity between them but I can find anything that tells me that he will or will not have his health affected by cat mess. I just want him better quickly without any set backs xx
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear about your dad's health and it's natural that you want to do all you can to make sure that his health isn't compromised further.
Could I suggest a couple of things for you to do to get an answer to your question. Firstly, you could join the lung cancer group and post your question there as I'm fairly sure they'll be someone in that group who has cats and will be able to advise you accordingly.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then post your question after selecting 'start a discussion'.
The second thing you could do would be to post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist cancer nurses will aim to respond within 2 working days.
Wishing you and your dad all the best
x
