my mum has lung cancer which has metastasised to her brain, she has finally (only taken 12 weeks Rolling eyes) been offered whole brain radiotherapy, starting on the 11th July. Trying to figure out what her side effects might be immediately, she is going to come and stay with us during the treatment. I have something on the Saturday night that I can’t cancel, and I don’t know if I need to get a nurse or someone to stay here with her for the evening. She will have had just 2 treatments by then (and none on that day as they are not open during the weekends)  I’ll be home most of the day with her, it’s just the evening I’m worried about.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community although I'm sorry that you've had to find us.

It's great that you've already joined and posted this question in the secondary brain cancer group and I'm sure someone in that group will be along soon with their experiences.

Alternatively you and your mum could speak to her cancer nurse specialist (CNS) in advance of her treatment starting to see what they recommend.

When you feel up to it, it would be really useful if could complete your profile with the details about your mum's journey so far as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
