Recently referred to haematology for a raised white blood count, they took 12 bottles and also booked me in for a bone marrow biopsy and an abdominal ultrasound

had some blood results back where white count had fallen from 12.5 to 10.5 so I thought ok then told platelets high 508 and high iron in blood

I have been suffering for six months with ibs type symptoms constantly and just feeling not myself, anxious etc etc

i had a throat endoscopy to check stomach etc and all was fine just some mild gastritis , but bowel continues to be all over the place every day

doctor said that as no blood in bowel movements that I’ve seen and as have high iron am not anemic so colonoscopy was not urgent . Need to wait for bone marrow and ultrasound results to come back

I just don’t know what high platelets and high iron mean to my situation

just worried sick and looking for any advise or similar

thanks for reading

Hi and welcome to the online community and I know that you don't want to be here but I'm sorry to hear that you are having some problems and waiting for more tests. The waiting for tests and then waiting for the results to come through and gone over with you always seem to take for ever and a day and you get yourself into a state worrying yourself sick

Normally I would try and signpost you to one of our friendly groups but as nothing is decisive just now I can only suggest that you repost you post in our Ask a Nurse page in the hope that the nurses can be of some help on deciphering your results.

You are of course very welcome to keep coming back to this part of the forum until we can get you settled into a group where you'll be amongst friends possibly with the same diagnosis as you.

I know the waiting seems endless but keep hanging in there everything will fall into place soon.

    Ian
