Morning, very new to the community. I have had fibroids in my womb for about 8 years and due to worsening of symptoms went for a routine ultra sound at Easter. They found a mass in my uterus which they thought was a polyp so I went for a hysteroscopy and polyp removal. They didn’t find one polyp, they found a whole uterus full and the biopsy came back showing pre-cancerous cells. I have been told that it is 50/50 as to whether or not the remaining cells are cancerous or pre-cancerous and won’t know for sure until everything is out and biopsies are done. So I’m being treated for uterus cancer until they know otherwise. I am facing a hysterectomy in a couple of weeks, the ‘big one’ that will push me immediately into the menopause. And then will have to wait for all my biopsy results to know whether I face further treatment or not. I’ve come to terms with my treatment, I have no choice, and I want all of this out of me as soon as possible. What I’m finding hard is that I feel completely fine! I don’t feel ill at all. I feel a fraud and keep expecting a surgeon to say it’s all a mistake. But instead it feels that everytime I visit the hospital at the moment the diagnosis gets worse. Friends and family are being great and understanding but I don’t know anyone who has been through this. Sometimes someone says they went through something similar, but it was either a scare or a hysterectomy to do with a prolapse, or a hysterectomy that didn’t take the ovaries and cause menopause, so if there’s anyone out there that’s experiencing the same I would love to speak to them. I feel like I’m on a carousel at the moment; spinning round at 100 miles per hour. Part of me wants it all to stop and let me off. Another part wants it to go faster and start treatment as I just want it all over. Thanks for listening everyone - as you know, it helps so much.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see you finding us.

A cancer diagnosis can truly bring a lot of stress on a family but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot and will reduce the whirlwind wind that is rushing in your head.

Please follow this link to our Womb (uterus) cancer where you will connect with people who understand the journey you are on. You can ask the folks questions about treatments, what to expect and how to help you and the family during this time.

Follow the link and join the group by hitting the ‘Join the Group’ tab just under the main group name. At this point go to the right on the group home page and select how you want to receive email notifications when someone answers your posts.

The best way to get support is to go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab just under the main group name. Set up your own Discussion and Introduce yourself to the group - you could just copy an paste what you have in this first post.

We do have lots of support groups that are Cancer specific  and also ones that are general Cancer experience  groups.
