My Dad had a large tumor removed from the back of his head nearly 5 weeks ago. The hospital keep making him appointments and then there is no consultant there to give him his results.
is it only the consultant who can give the results or can the GP?
Also my Mum is assuming as they are keeping him waiting all must be fine, but Im not sure, what is peoples experiences please?
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see you having to find us.
I am sorry to hear about your dad and the problems you are having getting his results.
From my 20 years experience I have had results from consultants, specialist nurses and my GP so for me it was who ever had the results first gave them to me or someone was given the talk of passing on the results.
I think you need to get your pointy elbows into the doors of your dad’s team so you can get answers.
It is nice to think ‘no news is good news’ but the system does have holes in it and some pointed questions do need to be asked at times.
A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of stress on a family but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot and will reduce the whirlwind wind that is rushing in your head.
We do have lots of support groups that are Cancer specific and also ones that are general Cancer experience groups.
Follow the links and have a look at the groups and where required join some of the groups by hitting the ‘Join the Group’ tab just under the main group name. At this point go to the right on the group home page and select how you want to receive email notifications when someone answers your posts.
The best way to get support is to go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab just under the main group name. Set up your own Discussion and Introduce yourself to the group - you could just copy an paste what you have in this first post.
