Hi I’ve just joined the community, I’m mainly looking for support for my husband, who’s Dad has terminal colon cancer. He has struggled with depression & anxiety in the past & is in need of some support now more than ever. He reached out to Steps to well being recentlyfor some extra support, they helped him in the past with CBT therapy, but they have said he would benefit more with some form of grievance counselling or something more specific to dealing with a family member with cancer...I don’t really know how we go about this & would appreciate any advice? Thank you
Hi , I’m sorry to hear about your father in law and that your husband is struggling at the moment. In the new to the community we usually signpost you to the groups on here where you can get support from other people who are going through similar things, but I don’t think that’s what your asking for here, I think your asking for some professional help for your husband.
I think I would recommend a call to the Macmillan support line, so that you or your husband can chat through what’s happening and knowing your geographical area Macmillan might be able to recommend various options for you, wether that’s a local support group, a virtual support group on here, or a visit to a centre where they can offer psychological support.
The Macmillan support line is 0808 808 0000 it’s open 7 days a week 8am to 8pm. For details about where it’s free from click the link below.
Best wishes
Take care KT
