Hi I was diagnosed with breast cancer on Thursday all a bit of a blur tbh but I had just left my old job to start a new job and was having a few weeks off where done stand with the new employer any ideas ??
Hi and welcome to the online community and I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and your concerns about your new job prospects but you'll be pleased to know that we are able to help you and give you advice.
The first thing I'd like to do is invite you to join our Breast cancer forum and or our Breast cancer for the under-50s forum groups and introduce yourself to the other members who are all very friendly and extremely supportive towards each other and will be made very welcome.
The second thing I'd like you to know that on our Ask a Work Support Adviser group page you can ask your question to one of our experts who should be able to give you advice on starting a new job with your new diagnosis.
You also can telephone our telephone support number and ask to speak to a member of the work support team and discuss your question. They can be contacted on
0808 808 0000
Monday to Friday 9am to 5 pm although on the same number you can chat to one of the support advisers any day of the week between 8 am and 8 pm.
I hope the above is of interest and you can find the answers you are looking for, having a job during the next few months will be a good thing whilst you're treatment is being sorted out.
Ian
