Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community and I am sorry that we've had to meet in this way but I am pleased that you've been able to reach out to us and I hope that we can of help to you.

Congratulations on the all clear but sorry to hear of the complication after the surgery.

Whilst you operation was in April it is not unusual to feel depressed as it would have been a pretty big operation that you had and being an open procedure it will take time to get back to normal and you will soon will be  just take each day as it comes.

The treatment for the open wound will not be helping you and as you've been fit and well for 67 years this is a tremendous shock to your body and we all react differently to these situations.

Have you spoken to your GP about how depressed you are there is nothing wrong with speaking to him/her they will understand and try and help you.

I see that you have joined the Bowel (colon and rectal) cancer forum group and I would invite you to repost this over there, we have some pretty amazing members in the group with a wealth of information and will be willing share with you and answer any questions about anything that you feel you would like to ask and believe me there is no such thing as a small or daft question, if it's in your head ask it someone will probably have been there before you and will give you the answer, they are a very friendly group of people who are very supportive towards each other and you'll be made very welcome by one and all.

You are very welcome to come on here and have a rant and rave, let off steam or just have a chat with the people who know what it's like after an operation and listen to you but not judge just be here for you with help, support and advice if you need it.

Look forward to seeing you joining in the bowel group very soon.

    Ian
