Evening I am new to the site and not really sure where to go in regards for advice... so I will start at the beginning.... sorry in advance, it may go on a bit.
August 2009 - diagnosed with high grade micro carcinoma in situ of the right breast, had mastectomy and lymph node clearance with reconstruction using back muscle and a prosthesis, (lymph nodes were clear).
March 2011 - Found a lump in my right armpit, was informed that cancer had returned, had lump removed and they took a further 7 lymph nodes, of which 4 were cancerous, followed with 6 rounds of chemo.
Oct 2016 - cancer returned again in my auxiliary tail on the right side, further surgery to remove it, and medication for a minimum of 5 yrs.
June 2018 - discovered nodules in my lungs, monitored them for approx 6 - 8 months, then in March 2019 decided to do a VAX lung biopsy. The modules were diagnosed as hypersensitive pneumonitis. (Consultant has said there is no guarantee they won’t become cancerous at a later date)
So I come to my question...
for the last 5 days I have had a really sharp stabbing pain in my right breast, ( right on the side, almost in the centre of my chest, which sometimes takes my breath away!! ) does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this or what it could be? I have an oncology appointment on the 19th June, should I wait to see her or try and get an earlier appointment.
I can’t speak to my husband about it, because every time I even sneeze he worries it may be back again.
I really appreciate any advice (sorry I went on so long too)
Hi
Welcome to the community, although I’m sorry you’ve had to join us. It sounds like you’ve had a right old saga with breast cancer over the last eight years.
I can’t answer your question but I hope I can point you in the right direction. There are two places that might help.
The first is “ask a nurse” which you can reach via the link below. It can take a day or two to get an answer.
https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_experiences/ask_the_expert/ask_a_nurse/
The second is the breast cancer community, where I’m sure you’ll find a warm welcome
https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/breast-cancer/
Only you can judge whether you need an earlier appointment but if my experience is anything to go by, every appointment slot before then will already be booked. Do you have a clinical nurse specialist? If so, maybe that’s the person to ask?
All the best
