Middle of April I had a scare of ?diverticulitis, taken to A&e.Was given high dose penicillin and blood tests etc taken.Cat scan 2 weeks later revealed a suspicious shadow over colon.Surgical consultant said it wasnt good and there were a few spots on liver and one on badder. but after further tests  I could perhaps have surgery and/or chemo.I realised this was serious but somehow managed to carry on and attempt to get my head round this shock,Because I am now waiting for flexi sigmoidoscopy on friday and further consultation following MRI,Im  getting down and despite many unhappy situations in my life, finding it now hard to get my normal positive mental attitude back.If i knew the full facts I think I would be better but this limbo isnt good for me. Do other people have similar problemsThanks

    Hi

Oh yes. I think the period between the first notion that you're dealing with cancer and getting the full picture is incredibly discombobulating. What was solid ground suddenly dissolves into thin air and there’s nothing to hold on to. You’re not alone and the common experience is that it gets easier once there’s a treatment plan in place

I’m one of the community champs - volunteers who help welcome new comers to the community. I really hope you’ll find some support here - being able to hear others experiences and making contact with people who really do know what you’re going through can make such a difference

Why don’t you take a look at the bowel cancer group? There are some really great folk over there who will make you welcome and have lots of practical advice should you need it

    All the best
