5 years ago my husband was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma in his back which was removed at that time.. A six month review which we had to request and no other treatment or surveillance ‘needed’ .  In 2018 he had general malaise and a variety of symptoms which he always was concerned was coming from his original cancer.  This was dismissed by doctors.  Things came to a head in May last year - he was not in pain but had very abnormal blood results this resulted in a couple of months of further blood tests and eventually a CT scan with the diagnosis of bowel cancer.  However an exploratory exam showed no evidence of vowel cancer and the Consultant was arranging other tests when U mentioned the previous melanoma.  They had not taken this into consideration - however a liver biopsy confirmed this was indeed the culprit.  The day we went to see the oncologist to discuss a treatment plan - I was by now certain my husband had some cognitive impairment albeit not obvious to an outsider.  I more or less insisted he had a CT of his head and yep there it was.  Treatment of any kind was not an option and he was given 6 weeks to 3 months to live.  He died 3 weeks later, dying in August, the day before his 53rd birthday, at home with myself and my son and daughter.  I am lost

  • A very warm welcome to the online community and I'm so very sorry to hear about the death of your husband last year.

It must be so very hard for you and I'd like to recommend that you join the bereaved spouses and partners group where you can share your feelings and get support from others who will know what you're going through.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You could then copy and paste your introduction from here into a new post there by selecting 'start a discussion' or respond to existing posts by clicking on 'reply'.
