Good afternoon

I have been for my ultrasound scans today at the local hospital and have come away concerned. The sonographer spoke to me throughout the scan without me asking anything and informed me that my kidneys were fine and then told me my womb was fine as a running commentary during the scan. However when it came to her finding my ovaries she never spoke or confirmed anything other than to say “I need to see my gp and have a discussion with them” this was dispite me not asking anything as I know they do not talk about findings during the scan. As you can imagine this has left me more anxious and it’s back to the waiting game

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see the circumstance that brought you here and so sorry to hear about the medical investigations you are having.

There are many on this Online Community who understand the moments of “The results will be sent to your GP” then the wait - but as you have no idea what this is all about please do not jump to any conclusions and keep away from Dr Google.

We are not medically trained and only have our own cancer journeys to look at and from my long experience the whirlwind in the brain can be very dangerous. But it can help to start putting all the questions that are going round your head down on paper so you are ready for your appointment with your GP.

Talking with people in these times where there are no clear answers is the best way. So a few links to keep you going until you have more information.

You may also find our various Macmillan Support Line Services on 0808 808 00 00 to be very helpful even if all you want to do is talk with friendly person that can help in lots of ways.

We also have our ‘Ask an Expert’ section where you could send a question to our nurse team but please allow a few days to get an reply.

    All the best.
