Hi all

This is all very new to me, but i wanted to just share recent events and would appreciate any info that would help to make things any clearer as my mind is currently full of all sorts, please help!!

My partner of close to 30 years has recently been diagnosed with a lump in her right lung, she was given a chest ct scan after 2/3 months of weight loss and being sick after most meals, she was also getting very little sleep as it was really uncomfortable to sleep on her back and right side as she couldnt breathe, she was getting breathless easily and couldnt walk for very long.

She has been given steroids, and told she will be checked in for a biopsy and a stent?, and probably radiology treatment, she wont talk to me as she says she has enough to handle wihout me getting worried or upset.

She is 45, a smoker, and we have 2 young girls

Please, please can anyone give me any idea of what will now happen

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to hear about your partner's recent lung cancer diagnosis. Everybody reacts to being given this news differently and it sounds like your partner isn't ready to talk about it yet.

Could I suggest a couple of groups for you to join. The first is the lung cancer group, where you can ask questions about treatment and what happens next, and the second is the carers group, which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and get support.

To join these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the pages that open. You can then introduce yourself and ask questions by selecting 'start a discussion' and respond to existing posts by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your partner's journey into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
