Hi I was hoping to get a little advise, my brother is extremely ill, the cancer has damaged his poor body so much, but he is young and strong, 4 weeks ago we where told to gather the family as he was close, yet 4 weeks later, nothing has changed, however in the last few days he has become very confused and thinks there is a conspiracy to keep him in hospital, and only seems to trust me with the truth, so my question what do i tell him, do I lay it all out or do I sugar coat it, up to now he knew what was happening, but every time he wakes ( as he is sleeping a lot) it starts all over again, as you can imagine it is extremely stress for his wife and children, any advice would be welcome

Thank you

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community at what sounds like a very distressing time for you and your family.

Could I suggest that you join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group where you can discuss your worries and get support from others in a similar situation to yourself.

To join this group just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself, or ask a question, by selecting 'start a discussion'. If you want to respond to an existing post click on 'reply'.

You may also find it helpful to give the Macmillan Support Line a call on 0808 808 0000 and talk it through with one of their cancer nurses. It's free to call and available daily from 8am to 8pm.

    Sending a virtual ((hug))
