Hi all,
I found out yesterday that my cancer is back and isn’t curable . Treatable, but the average survival is 12months. I have a child. I’m still young. My head is all over the place and I just don’t know what to do. It doesn’t seem real. Anyone in a similar position?
Thanks.
Hi
I am so sad to hear that your cancer is back. I can understand exactly how your head is all over the place. I felt that lack of reality when I was told the same news back in March 2016. My kids were 12 and 15 at the time. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Welcome to the community and to the place that’s been my lifeline. I am a community champ - one of the team of volunteers who welcome new people to the community and hopefully point you in the right direction to meet people who are in a similar position.
One group I’ve found incredibly helpful is living with incurable cancer.

I imagine you must have a whole host of questions so do join the group and start a new discussion. I really hope you’ll find it as helpful and comforting as I do.
It would really help others to support you if you filled in your profile with a bit of info about you and how cancer affects you. Click on your name at the top of this post and it should take you there.
And if you need to speak to someone, don’t forget the Macmillan helpline is open seven days a week.
I really hope to see you over in the incurables group.
Xx
Thanks for your reply. I’ve applied to join the group.
She is only 5. I can’t believe I’m not going to be around to watch her grow up.
Hi
I am glad. I’ll look out for you. You can just read until you’re ready to join in or reply to an ongoing discussion or start a discussion any time. There are a few members of the incurables with young kids.
I think the important thing to hold onto just now is that you’re here today to be with your daughter. It’s really the only day any of us has.
Xx
