  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see the circumstance that brought you here and so sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast cancer in the bone

I am Mike Thehighlander and I help out on the Community. The one thing I came to understand over my 20 years journey with my type of Lymphoma was that talking with people can help a lot. So I found the best way to navigate the various challenges that a cancer diagnosis brings was by talking with people who are on the same journey.

I see that you have found one of our support groups - well done doing this despite you not being 'into' this online stuff.

I am sure that the folks will get back to you with support, just remember to go to the right on the group home page and select how you want to receive email notifications when someone answers your posts.

You may also find our various Macmillan Support Line Services on 0808 808 00 00 to be helpful as you can talk to a friendly person that can help in lots of ways.

When you have the time it would be helpful if you could put some information about yourself and the journey that brought you to the Community into your profile as it really does help the Community members to help you and get to know you.

Click on your username and that will take you to your homepage. Look for ‘Edit my Profile’ click on it and start to tell us as much or as little about yourself as you want then click on save before closing the page.

    All the best.

    Mike (Thehighlander)

    Hi

I would like to echo what Mike has said. I am so sorry to hear about the diagnosis you’ve received.

I’ve been living with incurable cancer for the last three years. It isn’t easy and it took me time to get over the feeling that I was dying from cancer and to start to live with it instead. But it was well worth the effort. I’ve found this community incredibly helpful, in particular the group living with incurable cancer.

I found counselling at my local hospice very helpful and use meditation to help me stay in the day and manage my emotions. It’s very easy to get overwhelmed by anger and sadness after hearing news that you have stage 4 cancer. Whatever it is you’re feeling now remember it’s normal - and that it will pass.

I hope this gives you a glimmer of hope and something to hold on to

    xx
