Hello everyone. I'm Aneta. I'm currently awaiting my first appointment with a hematologist.

I have been through bowel cancer screening and breast cancer screaning since February.

I've had swallen lymph nodes and abdominal & back pain for 8 weeks now. Apart from that I have some classical lymphoma symptoms like night sweats and weight loss. My GP has done FBC, CRP and ESR and because they are all normal he didn't want to go the lymphoma route. It was only when I broke down in tears from stress and pain he agreed to have me referred. Lymphoma was suggested to me at the breast clinic, not by Dr Google :)

So here I am. Waiting for another referral. Looking after two very little children. Scared that I'm ill and won't be there for them all the time if I need treatment. I find it so hard to carry on with normal life. I just can't shake the feeling that I have lymphoma as I can't rationally explain all the symptoms and pain I'm experiencing.

How did you guys manage with the wait? It's been 8 weeks already and I'm looking at another few before I know anything for sure.

Thanks for reading :)

  • Hi Richt,

It has been a long journey for you so hopefully the treatment starts soon. Have you been feeling well physically? I hope work isn't too stressful.

I'm still waiting for the CT scan date. In the meantime I had a chest x-ray done privately because I've had a cough for a month that keeps the whole house up at night. Fortunately it came back clear.

I was back at the doctor's as I constantly get pins and needles and stiffness in my arms and hands. I also have a new big swollen node that's causing me pain in my neck and I can't turn my head. Apparently I have health anxiety. That's new as before it was always either recent childbirth or irritable bowel syndrom causing my health problems Wink

Wil be keeping my fingers crossed for you on Thursday. Please post an update once you have a moment after the appointment.

  • Good luck for today Richt.

Glad the itching stopped. Yes when I start moving the pins and needles stop. I've been in a lot of pain the last few days so mentally it's not been great.

    Looking forward to your update.

    Hi Aneta,

    Thanks for the reply earlier.

Is there anything you can do for the pain you are having?

    Ok so update time,

Upgraded to stage 3 now follicular lymphoma,

    I can have

    Chemo

    Antibodies in i.v

Or and  radio therapy on the problem node in my neck.

Im leaning towards the antibody therapy and radio on my neck keeping the chemo  for later if i need it.

Any views, thoughts or comments on my choice?.

    Thanks .

  • Hi Richt,

Have they said when you will be starting the treatment? I hope you are feeling calmer now after you've been told what the plan of action is.

I can't comment on the options you were given, but maybe you can get some advice if you post in the follicular lymphoma group?

I can only take paracetamol for the pain but don't do it too often due to nursing the baby. Hospital phoned me back today and said that by Wednesday I should know the scan date. The waiting game continues Slight smile

    Take care

    Hi Aneta,

I finally got my treatment date for 10th june for rituximab, see how that goes.

How you doing now? Has the pain eased any?

  • Hi Richt,

I'm glad you finally get to start the treatment soon. It must have been difficult couple of months. Let me know how you feel after the 1st dose.

I got a CT scan date due to cancellation.I had it done on Wednesday. My next consultant appointment is on 19.06 so hopefully results will be in by then.

The pain is still there: abdomen, lower back, legs. It's like a nerve pain in legs so it's more irritating than painful. The back is the worst. I also noticed new enlarged nodes. Are your nodes causing you any pain? I have neck and groin pain where the nodes are but dont know if it's coincidence.

Take care and have a lovely weekend

Hi, aneta how are you doing??

  • Hi Richt,

I'm still the same thank you for asking.

I had my ct scan results today and they haven't found any changes in my abdomen which is a relief. But they found a 6mm nodule at the bottom on my lung. They want to re-scan it in 3 months time.

I am now referred for an MRI and colonoscopy. Happy days WinkMRI is the worst fear for someone living with claustrophobia but I'm glad it will be done.

How was the start of your treatment? I hope you are not suffering with any side effects.

    Take care
