New to site - lost with emotion and confusion . 43 yrs old
Visited gp on Friday 05th Oct , about night time urination - i have been getting up once a night for the past 4- 5 years
but for the past 3 weeks this increased to 3-4 times per night causing disruption to sleep etc
GP tested urine and detected blood 3+ and no UT infection on the dipstick and referred me to see a urologist. I have an appointment this Friday and am terrified of a possible bc outcome.
What are the statistics for a male early forties to have bc? What are the other possibilities?
Thank You
Felt the obligation to return onto this site and share the conclusion of my journey, for anyone searching for answers here as i did in Oct 2018 when first suspected of bladder cancer by my gp. After urine flow tests, CT IVU’s, MRI’s of lower urinary tract/KUB scans, ultrasounds of scrotum/testes, detailed blood tests and finally a very delayed flexible cystoscopy the cause of the initially detected microhematuria and UTI remains unresolved.
However most importantly no cancers have been detected, anywhere. A few small cysts in the kidneys and thats it.
A stressful, frightening journey concludes with huge relief and some questions unanswered ie why was/is there blood in my urine and why do i still wake up to pee at nights etc.
Have been advised to accept that a prostate grows and bladder dynamics change with age, and that as i approach 50 this will be the norm.
A big thanks to Riley.
Hi . Really great news to hear you are cancer free. Enjoy the moment. Keep off the coffee if you are a coffee drinker. It irritates the bladder. Regular drinks of water keeps all the pipes clean and flushed out and helps with frequent peeing. Wishing you well going forward. Best wishes.
Thanks Riley, you were the ‘first’ kind voice to respond as I stared into the unknown at the time. You provided sincere support, words at a time difficult time, once again i thank you.
Do hope we never ever have to engage again on this forum....
