Brother had skin cancer & on ear & in 2 lymph nodes in neck & 1 in cheek. Op was initially a success but leaks from neck have continued/worsened, wound not healed & fluid now being intravenously given to replace fluid loss. Hosp advise no surgery can help & meds could adversely affect him as kidneys& liver failing, Anyone had similar/offer info or advice ??
Hi Liz. Sorry to hear about your brother. I am a survivor of treatment for a head and neck cancer where lymph node removal is common. A lot of us do get lymphodema to some extent. I was able to masssge the fluid away till other heathy nodes took over the task. Can you ask your brother’s CNS if they can give him some tailored exercises to do and refer him to a lymphodema clinic. You could ask about a Hereford Collar and about kinesiology too.
Best wishes
Dani
