Trying to start...
3 years living with advanced stomach cancer. 3 years of regular treatment keeping cancer stable
Life goes on ..son separates from his partner and is back as single dad
Taking my 90 year old mum out and enjoying our time together although physically it's exhausting
Being with my wonderful husband and spending time with our friends
All of this had been precious
In last week my sort of stable life has taking a turn
My grandson who is 13 has mental health issues has had a traumatic week and ended up bring sent to A&E at local hospital for checks as cfc by doctors he has had uti , weight concerns and his undiagnosed OCD has exacerbated . So he was having various tests, and the mental health team were called. And although this is was very difficult for him and his dad at least action is being taken and hopefully support. We have been helping as much as we can with childcare and helping round their home . So our son can focus on helping his son.
My last CT-scan showed inflammation of bowel and I have been dealing with issues
Been to see my GP for check we discussed a few things
Bloods done and poo samples submitted
This week
Thursday told prediabetic (46) suggested diet changes
Friday morning told cholesterol level increased to 7.2 maybe have to consider statins
Friday teatime Doctor phoned with results of sample and need a colonosopy as possible bowel cancer
How much more ....I am praying and trust but its hard sometimes..
Rant over
Hello Quirky Lady
I am new to this group - I have been on my personal cancer journey for 4.5 years but joined this group this week so I can sympathise with you.
You try and do everything possible to keep everything going and bang, it's like the mushrooms growing, they are kept in the dark and you just open the door and throw more crap on them - the good thing is they grow into decent mushrooms in the end.
Yes, I am diabetic - easy to control with pills, yes I have more than enough cholesterol - easy to control with pills - yes I have had 3 colonoscopies but life goes on.
Like you I like a good old rant - I even say "why me" and then realise I am lucky - I am still here and life goes on.
Let's both carry on - both of us are being looked after by our various teams and there's still so much life to live and so much to do:
I am praying and trust but its hard sometimes..
Yes it is - but WE can do this and show our families how strong we both are. I wish you well with your colonoscopy results and moving forward - always happy to have a chat if you need to vent.
Best wishes - Brian.

Thank you so much for taking time to respond. Your reply is inspirational. I will keeeeeep going and keep hopeful with the occasional rant
I am sorry you are going through this Quirky Lady
Welcome to the incurables group. I am sorry you find yourself here. The group no one wants to have the credentials to join, but which is full of loads of amazingly friendly supportive people going through all sorts of difficult things. Life is complex isn’t it. My own journey with the fall out from treatment has also taken me into the land of pre-diabetes and statins, with an underactive thyroid and high blood pressure thrown in for good measure. Sometime I am surprised I don’t rattle from the various drugs keeping me stable. Managing family complications on top of it all must certainly add to your load. On this site you will find threads where people chat about all sorts of things outside cancer. Hope you get some value from connecting with us.
