Hello again. My treatment stopped 3 months ago. I was in a hospice for a few weeks, and have been at home ever since. Is anyone else in my situation of no more treatment?

I have to be in bed most of the time due to problems with the base of my spine. The doctors seen to agree I could be like this for months.

  • Hi Lucy

How are you today. I hope you are able to get out in the sun even just for a short time. Have you got plenty to occupy yourself you don't need to feel isolated so keeping busy would be good.

Whatever you are doing I hope you are feel positive and perhaps a little bit happy.

    Sending you a hugs

  • I can't keep busy. My hands are weak and concentration is hard

I don't mean to sound negative, this is just the way it is. I have to get used to it. I spend most of my time lying down. I have too much time to think.

  • I think I will continue to lurk as I don't have anything positive to share. Thank you for all the comments. Cancer has taken all my hobbies from me. Even talking or reading is hard.

Perhaps I am further along my journey than I realise. I seem to have reached a plateau stage of waiting, unable to do anything much.

  • Hi Lucy,

Sorry to hear your suffering, think my treatments will be ending shortly sadly, as no longer keeping it a bay, and think they actually kill u before the cancer does tbh lol……..but I’m ok ish at the mo , although can’t do much as breathing issues if I do , but i try,  but I know what your heads doing. Thinking of trying Audio books when I have too , just to see if they can slow down the brain thinking for a while lol .    Have you tried them?

Used to read my kindle but hard work not to read the same page 3 times and still don’t have a clue what’s going on lol

Just keep to reading News bits now as keeps me a bit more focused than a book. Take care.   Just do whatever makes you happier and with least pain.  And try to get some fresh air when ever you can, bit of Vitamin D does make you feel a bit better even if briefly.
If you need a chat anytime no problem , although I might take a while to respond.

  • Sending good thoughts to you. These later stages don't tend to get to talked about enough. I hope you are comfortable.

  • You’re so right Lucy, thank you for posting. None of us really want to think about it or face it so it’s refreshing when someone does and details how they feel and the practical issues. Do keep posting, we don’t mind negative and it will at least give you something to think about and do. Please don’t worry about being negative, if some people don’t like it, they don’t have to read it

  • Hi Lucy so sorry your at this stage. Your quit right the end game is never spoken about. I do know what your going through (second hand) as I was a carer, my ladies and a few gents found that Reiki, a hand or foot massage helped to relax . Thes people will come to your home .The audio books as Mick said are good as well. I'm thinking of uou and am sending peacefull vibes xx

  • The palliative care nurse came today. I found it helpful for her to explain what my likely progression will look like. Of course, there is no timeframe possible. Identifying  my fears directly helped.

Managed to have a good cry with her too. I can't talk to.my husband like that. He gets too upset. The palliative care nurse is going to pop in next week too.

  • Hi Lucy, I've had my treatment stopped a couple of months ago due to adverse side effects x

  • Hello Stuart69 I am sorry you are at this stage too. How are things with you?
