New and scared

Hi Tony, a warm welcome to the forum my friend, but I'm so sorry to see you here, and for your diagnosis. I understand having been where you are a few years ago, what an awful experience your going through, something many on here understand fully Tony, and will help and support you through what is without doubt the worst part of your journey my friend. I've a different cancer, prostate, and not curable, but definitely not, untreatable and for some time as well, and with new therapies and treatments coming through to add to the fab treatments already available. My friend your emotions will be all over the place right now, this is perfectly normal, so if you want to scream, shout, rant or cry, then do so, and please feel free to ask any questions, absolutely anything.

Hi Tony, sorry you have had to join this group. But we  all been throught what your going through, and can give you support and understanding. At first I just couldn't  believe it was happening to me. I was given 12 to 18 months, but after alot of immunotherapy over 4and a half years I am now cancer free. We have HOPE.   Be kind to yourself.  Once a treatment plan  is gives  and it starts it will be your new normal . Keep  posting, let off steam here, there is always somebody about. A warm welcome to the online Community fro me too - I have been a member of the Community for over 4 years but a member of this group for less than a week - but they are an amazing bunch here. 

The diagnosis and the "why me" stage does take some getting used to, it also takes time to come to terms with all the medical jargon and medication you had never heard of before your diagnosis.

It’s a horrible shock to find you have incurable cancer. Everyone on this forum is in the same boat and we also went through that initial period of being newly diagnosed. My one piece of advice would be don’t ask them for timescales. They can only tell you what typically happens, and once you’ve heard it you can’t unhear it. Once you’ve heard it, it needs to be declared on travel insurance and the like. Do take the time to make sure your affairs are in order, but then try to get on with the job of living. Hopefully there will be treatment to keep you stable and any symptoms under control, and rhe treatment irself will be tolerable. I think of my stage 4 breast cancer as a chronic condition I have to live with. Wishing you all the best.
