Dear fellow long middlers.
I was approached last week by one of MacMillan’s other lovely volunteers to see if I would be interested in becoming one of the site’s community champions. I have completed the training and been suitably anointed. As I am a member of this incurable cancer patients only forum anyway - I have metastatic triple negative breast cancer - it made sense that this would be one of the community fora assigned to me. My role is to make people feel welcome, to make sure posts don’t go unanswered, to signpost to other sources of help where appropriate, and generally support people where I can. I am not a substitute for medical advice, as that is one thing I absolutely cannot give. I can of course continue to reference my own lived experience of being a stage 4 cancer patient.
So, if you are new to this community, or perhaps someone who reads the posts but doesn’t comment much, please say hello. There are a number of threads for talking about other things in your life, as this long middle allows many of us to enjoy all sorts of things. Plus of course you can also talk about your own experience of incurable cancer.
Wishing everyone a lovely Easter.
Great news Coddfish I hope you enjoy your new role x
