Hi I been diagnosed since april that I have incurable stage 4 cancer of the liver and colon sometimes my emotions are all over the place and other times I am cool as a cucumber, what really frustrated me is how my family are going to cope after this drastic time, my family and friends all know about it but it sometimes I feel like give up and get it over and done with am being selfish or it something everyone goes through

    • Hi TheaT nice to meet you,  you are probably right about being in shock but since I have spoken to people on this site my attitude has changed for some reason much more positive, that would have been some experience meeting al those incurable and as you said heart breaking and encouraging, some people are so brave the way they just carry on
  • Hi Joe,

Have you had word yet when you will be starting treatment? I do hope it is soon, if you haven’t already started it? I have read your answer to TheaT,  welcome Thea T, and was so pleased it was such a positive response. Good for you!!  Take care

  • Hi Annette sorry not been in touch but I have ended up back in hospital as the pain  was unbearable so my wife phoned the ambulance on Tuesday night, I feel a lot better now and the pain is under control now so hopefully will get home in a couple of days, I have had an appointment for the Marsden on the 5/8 but it all depends on what happens here, as the macmillian nurse is going to talk to the Marsden to what they are actually going to do

  • Thoughts and best wishes with you Joe

  • Thank you feeling much better now hopefully be home soon

  • Hi Joe, I wonder if you are managing some sleep in hospital! I have never been able to sleep in hospitals, they are quite noisy at night, especially if new patients arrive. I am so sorry you are in there but at least if you are feeling a bit better, then it is the best place to be. Do you know what they are giving you if they have controlled the pain? Hopefully they can give you a Script so you can continue on them once you get home, which I hope is soon!

Good for the McMillan nurse, talking to the Marsden on your behalf! Good luck.

Oh meant to say, I’m not sure which hospital you are in but do they wake you at 6am to make your bed before the shift changes then breakfast comes at 8ish?  Take care & please keep in touch!

  • Hi Annette sorry not been in touch but phone went wonky in hospital couldn't text or anything,  got home today and feeling much better,  it's all antibiotics and morphine l get treatment basically the same as I use at home, don't know if I told you but I have an appointment at the Marsden on 29th for test and consultation then start treatment on 31st, how are you feeling everything ok, are you still getting out and about doing things you like,  hopefully after my treatment starts I will be able to get out more. Take care

  • Hi Joe, That's great you have an appointment with the Marsden and not too far away either!  I'm wondering do you know what treatment you will start on 31st or does that depend on the tests & consultation on 29th?
At least once treatment is started, you will feel a lot better knowing things are moving forward. Thanks for asking, I'm doing ok thanks. Trouble with nerve pain. Thanks to my Motability Car I do manage to get around using elbow crutches or a Stroller, I still get tired quite quickly but I just try and pace myself.

Please let me know how you get on with the Marsden! Are the antibiotics doing their work do you think?
