Hi all I'm Stu. Was diagnosed 7 weeks ago with Renal Cancer. This has now spread to spine and lungs. Saw Oncologist for first appt yesterday who advised no treatment available and that prognosis was 12 - 14 months..
Absolutely heartbroken. Not sure what to do next but am sure will figure things out. Just wanted to say hi. X .
Stu
Hi Stu
just want to say welcome, we all know what you are going through, you won’t find a better bunch of people for support than here, I recently went through a bit of a low with my situation and everyone on here kept me going. Whatever you want to say we will listen and support.
your prognosis is a lot to take and understand, you will get there, talking on here and time helped me get to a good place, so will you.
Hugs for now
Donna
Hi Stu,
Its shit isn't it? Being given news like that. There's no sugar coating it!
But, believe it or not the shock will eventually wear off, and you will eventually get to a place where you can get on with the business of living.
Just wanted to say hi and a warm welcome and as corny as it sounds , remember you are not alone. They're a lovely bunch on here.
Also, the others are right, some people go way past their original prognosis.
I've never had the guts to ask for a prognosis (timeline). I know I'm incurable and that mine is one of those cancers where the survival rate is very poor, but thats all I need to know. For now.
X
Hi Stu. Welcome to the support group. I can imagine how you're feeling as have similar prognosis of about a year. I have been encouraged by accounts of people who have survived much, much longer than predicted. I'm waiting to hear on Friday re phone call with consultant to see whether any delaying of the inevitable is possible. Might this be an option for you, though I know all cancers are different.. Meanwhile I'm going on holiday to Florence and Tuscany with friends Oct 1st and intend to enjoy what time I have left, days out etc while I still feel well enough.
Ann..
Hi Ann.
I'm trying to stay as positive as I can. I have an appt on 15th with consultant and have a few questions to ask about why no treatment available.
I hope your news is good on Friday - do let me know.
The community here is very inspiring. Like you, seeing the number of people pass there sell by date inspires me. As does the love and support shown to each other.
Much love Stu
