Hi all I am new to this group,  was first diagnosed with bowel cancer September 2018 surgery right side of colon removed,  got it all no chemo.

October 2019 returned both lungs, abdominal cavity,   groin and left shoulder !! Did watch and wait for a bit, then started immunotherapy, nivolumab every 2 weeks then it went to 4 weekly.  I'm on my 20 round out of 24. I've been stable since December 2020.

When I asked my oncologist how long I had she said 12 to 18 months from diagnosis ! Well I've past that physically I feel OK, but just lately feeling a bit depressed.Im waiting for scan results on 1/3/22. I thinking that's why I feel down. Normally very positive, still walking and dancing about, not bad for 68 year old gal. I intend seeing my 70th birthday. Take care all  X

  • Hello Moi2

Welcome to our group. I think my story is similar to yours. I was diagnosed with head and neck cancer in December 2019, with surgery that looked successful. However it came back and is now in my lungs. I have just started my first month of nivolumab and side effects mainly seem to be a cough. So, it’s very encouraging to hear that you have been stable on it. This group is so supportive so you have come to the right place. It’s tough waiting on scan results buts lots of good advice and encouragement on here to help you. Good luck this time and everything crossed for you.

  • Hi Nigel yes nivolumab has been very kind.. my side effects have been the cough and itch and constipation , and a couple of mouth ulcers, but all managed with lotions and potions. I was told good diet and keep moving. Not to long for my results so trying to stay positive.  Take care and good luck with treatment  Moi x

  • Hi Moi

its good you have been able to tolerate it well. It does seem to be a lot kinder for most people. I am glad it’s worked so well for you in keeping you stable.

    Best wishes
