Has anyone else had a letter from NHS?

Hi Gang,

I got a letter from NHS by post yesterday concerning new treatments to help if you develop Covid-19. Saying "your medical records show that you might be suitable for these treatments."     It also states that these treatments need to be given quickly after you start to experience Covid-19 symptoms. It tells me to keep the letter safe so I can refer to it in the future. I qualify for priority PCR tests, being on the high risk register.

I'm wondering if anyone here has had one of these letters? I'm curious how many letters have been sent out!

Look forward to hearing your experiences.   Take care everyone!

Yes I received the same letter last week, as I am on palliative care pathway I'm not going to bother with their new pills. Kind regards Frank

  • Hi Frank, Thank you for your reply! Yes I can understand why you don't want their 'new' pills, I was wondering if they have their own side effects which could be worse than the effects of Covid. This new strain Omricon doesn't seem to affect people as bad as Covid-19 did. Our son, DIL & grandson have had it and just had a sore throat for a day or two!

In my opinion if we have had the jags and the booster, that's enough to take on top of the drugs we are on!

How are you doing Frank? Hope you are as good as you can be!

  • I had the letter and a pcr testing kit through the post to keep in reserve before Christmas. I'd be willing to discuss having the treatment if I had Covid.

My wife has MS and she got the letter and kit before Christmas.

  • I've had nothing yet, but my local hospital is one of those trialling one of these treatments and it was in all the local papers inviting those in vulnerable groups with a positive Covid test to sign up - they had to do it quickly within 5 days of the test.  Rainie x

  • Hi Everyone, That's interesting that some people got a kit with their letter! I just got the letter!

  • Hi anndanv,

I`m the same as you, received blue letter last week but no kit.

    Take care, Tom.

  • Hi Tom, Maybe as Sal says, our kits could be in the post! Time will tell!

Hi Annette, thanks for your reply. I think the steroids have helped me eat more and have a bit more energy and increased the feel good factor. I shall have to speak to my pharmacist as my wife picked up my repeat prescription today (Monday) and instead of the 2mg Dexamethasone they have given me 0.5 mg. I was on 4 mg one day and 2 mg alternative days, so I'm not happy with the reduction. I don't want to go backwards and it's not as if the steroids are going to kill me ( I think) If I can do small things like bringing logs in for the stove and small DIY jobs that keeps me happy. I do like a 20 minutes walk round trip to my local shops and back, but not if it's raining. Thanks again and kind regards Frank.
