hi everyone I’ve posted before about having METAPLASTIC breast cancer that has now metastasized to my lungs I was told I potentially only have a year and I’m a single mum to a almost 3 year old.
Today I met with the consultant at St Barts hospital  for talks about the new trial called the Diamond trial it’s a new kind of immunotherapy called Durvalumab either on its own or with Datopotamab deruxtecan .

He said it’s having good results potentially better than the sacituzab but they haven’t treated many cases where cancer has spread within 6 months. I’m so scared I thought I’d feel more hopeful after speaking to him but I really don’t. Has anyone else had their cancer spread so quickly and are having good results with other treatments?

  • Hi

Have you cross posted in the breast cancer forum? They may have more experience there. But the trial is sounding promising! It is a phase 2 trial that means so patients have already had them before you and showing good safety profile and potential clinical efficacy. A drug typically would cost around several hundred million to 1 billion dollars to get to phase II trial so they don’t undertake them lightly.

    All the best !

  • Hi Stella, no I haven’t. Thank you. I will try and do that yes, it’s a phase 2 trial. I think he spoke so quickly as his secretary had forgotten to actually book in my appointment so when I got to the hospital, they didn’t know who I was even though he knew I was coming, so it was all rather a blur

  • Clinical trial nerd here. I think this is the trial your oncologist is referring to.  https://www.isrctn.com/ISRCTN67463316

it’s looking to recruit 140 people. I hope you are successful in getting a place. The early results for datapotumab deruxtican have looked good, it seems to cause fewer toxicities than sacituzumab govetican; both of these drugs target TROP2, which most TNBC has.

  • Thank you, I’ve got all the scans and tests next week so hopefully my cancer hasn’t spread any further than my lungs as that would be the only reason I wasn’t eligible the oncologist said. I feel so fit and healthy which makes this so much harder to believe.

  • sounds promising @Penguin80
