Well I'm on Day 3 of Cycle 2:4 and not doing too badly.Vomiting started last night sadly along with stomach upset , despite still being on Dexamethasone until tomorrow and a 50% reduction in dose of Capcetabin ,just keeping a daily diary ATM no need to call hotline.
Eating is alot better, though I find the concept of small regular snacks rather than 2 meals per day oddly difficult.
There's no doubt having the stent put in has helped me to eat better...I'm still on the fence about whether it was worth the trauma.I tell the team I'd never have it done again unless under GA.I don't get the impression they believe me .
A slight flicker in all the Oncology discussions mentioned only to me as a side comment. My blood test showed a reduction in the tumour markers after Cycle1, I know they are so careful not to create false hopes for which I'm grateful but...it IS the only piece of positive news since March. So ...I'll take that Thankyou.
Isn't it interesting how each Cycle creates new side effects.Cycle1 just pins and needles. This time Cycle2 affected my voice and calves.Strange to be swaddled in blankets and told to drink hot water to alleviate the voice problem when it was 30 degrees outside. But it worked.
To all of those suffering in this heat I'm thinking of you, hopefully for us here in Dorset we have a few days respite coming up as from tomorrow my garden is just a crispy mess.
Hi
Glad to hear your tumour marker number is down. That is very good news indeed! Are you on omeprazole for stomach ?
For anti nausea - you need to ask for aprepitant or Akynzeo, they are very effective but expensive. So make sure you complain about being sick all the time and ask for it. I have Akynzeo and it costs over £500 for one pill! But we are worth it.
I also find every cycle throw up different side effects. I think my body is trying to tell me to stop the chemo.
Hope this cycle is kinder to you. X
Haha I know what you mean about cutting the grass, not something I feel like doing anyway.Im glad Dex has proved so useful for you.Ive stopped Capcetabin last night due to side effects and just spoken to chemo hotline who have agreed it's for the best for now.So I await further instruction on Wednesday after they've spoken with consultant onco.
Onwards and upwards, have a lovely day x
