Hello all I’m just posting a quick update in case anyone was wondering. The hospital believe my new cancer is in the bile duct. Had a scan last Thursday, and a call yesterday to let me know they’ve made an appointment for this Friday. I’m trying to stay positive and keep busy until then. I haven’t been logging on as I’ve been trying to get my head around it all. I’ll read through your posts to catch up.
Hi Jools, you only wrote what was on your mind and they are good plans, we are here in support each othere. So pleased to hear your dental work is done , it makes you feel like a new girl. That's how I felt when I had mine done last summer, couldn't stop smiling. Great appointment 2nd February, just run your plans past oncologist and sort out appointments fir when you come back, then you'll be able to enjoy your trip. Me well I'm fine except for a few mood swings, I'm a moody madame anyway so that's nothing new lol My scan is 31st January, results 13th February. Think I'll be having another break from Treatment for easter usually do. Leet us know how you get on. Big hugs xx
Moi
I’ve just re-read your profile. You’ve been on this roller coaster a bit longer than me. I got on board in 2019. I can’t believe how many “rounds” of treatment you’ve had. I had a visit from our loc hospice yesterday. I thought it was going to be practical, but it upset me. One of the first things she talked about was where I wanted to die! She also explained about the “emergency” pain relief t. I know it’s got a proper name, but it almost sounds like for when you’ve had enough kit! Luckily for me my lovely friend texted me to ask how my visit had gone. When I told her how upset I was shsaid, “file it away. You’ve got plenty of life left to live.” So, that’s what I’m doing. I managed to get an appointment with my hairdresser for next Tuesday, so when I see my family, I won’t look le an “old lady”! I’m off to work this morning, so that will keep my mind occupied. Have a lovely weekend.
Yes I've had alot of treatment but it's keeping me here I feel good so I'll keep going till it stops working. I'm sorry to hear your visit from hospice nurse upset yoù there is always something to knock us back as we make holiday plans,
. I haven't had that pleasure yet but will one ðay. I don't know were I want to die but it will be my choice, hopefully time and place. Just put it on back burner, get your hair done you've got a holiday to go on. xx

Hi Jools, Well, I had the same experience almost ten years ago when I was given 5-7 months to live but it was my GP not a Hospice Nurse who took me by surprise. After I got my Stage4 dx, I got a letter from my GP asking could my husband and I make an appointment to see him, any day, but the last one of the day. When we got there, the first thing he asked was "had I thought where I wanted to die and did I want a DNR note on my records? Then he said he'd refer me to the hospice, to which I replied I wasn't at that stage yet and told my husband "we are leaving".This roller coaster isn't an easy ride, I too now have liver problems but I'm still here to tell the tale!
Moi is spot on, file it away and prove them wrong. When that time comes, I'm sure we will all know it! Just think back to when you were first diagnosed, did you think you'd still be here 5 years on! You stick to your plans. Where are you off to on holiday and when? We are off to Spain on 20th next month!

Sounds like your gp missed the training on tact and bedside manner! I can’t believe you were asked to make an appointment by letter. I was only diagnosed with my first primary in May 2019, and my current one December 2023. I was blissfully ignorant about cancer 5 years ago. Today I checked in for my flight next week. I’m only going to Essex! I’m visiting my parents and sister. It’s much quicker and cheaper to fly, although this will be my first time. I suspect it’ll be a little warmer in Spain! I’ve printed off all of the stuff I probably won’t need.
Hi Jools, have a great time! It won't surprise you to know I've never seen that particular doc since as there were other docs in the practice but I've since changed practices!
Love Annette x
