Surgery date

Hi everyone I’m sorry I haven’t been keeping in touch with you all as much. I’ve been struggling to be honest. Anyway, I’ve tried to read everyone’s posts to get up to date with what is going on with you all. I received the phone call I’ve been hoping for and dreading in equal measure. I’m going to have surgery Monday 30th October. I’m advised not to go to work, just to avoid getting a cold or covid. I was due in 3 days this week, and could use the distraction. I’m not being ungrateful, as I know some of you would love the option of surgery. I’m freaking out at the thought of having another surgery which may not work. The hospital is at least two hours drive away and there are roadworks to make matters worse! I had a bad experience last time, and don’t know if my surgery will be laparoscopic or open. If any of you have the time to offer some words of advice or comfort, I’d really appreciate it.

  • Jools i wish you all the luck in the world, you deserve it, no doubt of that.

Look at it the other way, my luck is changing, and everything, will be good..

You will be in my thoughts, and i HOPE  things go smoothly for you.

    Big Hugs,

  • Thanks Ellie. I really appreciate your response. You know what it’s like. Almost too scared to be positive. X

  • I know, worry about things, if and when you may have to, you can do this, Big Girl Knickers on, what ever colour.

  • Hi Jools63

Good luck, I will keep you in my prayers. I understand you needing distraction but picking up an infection of any sort would set you back for the operation so may I suggest you distract yourself in a different way, binge a box set, clean out those kitchen cupboards lol you've been meaning to do, get a good book and read from cover to cover, my read would be Harry Potter, lol. But do whatever keeps you safe from germs until you've had your surgery. Whilst you are in hospital friends and family can keep contact, I know I've made good use of messenger when I've been in hospital, it's so much easier for people to stay in contact these days and they don't have to make a 2 hour journey to see you.

Good luck with everything and keep smiling all the way

    Hugs Donna

  • Hi

Hope you're keeping busy in preparation for Monday. I was going to ask if there were any hotels near the hospital to save you the drive but that may interfere with isolation. I just thought it would save the stress on the day. I really hope the surgery is successful and that all goes smoothly for you.

    A x

  • Did put my big girl pants on for a couple of days! Unfortunately, I had a big meltdown today. I hadn’t received any confirmation of my appointment and it really stressed me out.

  • Thanks for your reply Donna. I can’t concentrate on much at the minute, so haven’t even bothered trying to read. I’ve been trying to  get on top of the housework. I work for a charity shop, so brought a couple of jigsaw puzzles home to keep me occupied!

  • Sorry to hear that, though you cannot keep big girl knickers on all the time, the little saucy ones come, look good, but no support, big girl  knickers, will soon appear.

    Thoughts are with you. x

  • Oh bless you sistermoon. I’m staying at a hotel close to the hospital the night before. My estranged husband is driving me there which means leaving my two dogs home on their own. I would’ve preferrFingers crossed to have slept in my own bed with them. I found it hard last time being the only person on their own queuing to get into the ward. I’m counting down how many sleeps before the dreaded day. I’m sure Fingers crossedll be feeling less anxious tomorrow.Fingers crossed

  • Hi Jools, I thought I'd just pop in to wish you luck on Monday! I'm sure when you get there, you will be fine. Just think, it will all be over soon and you will be welcomed by your two dogs who will have really missed you!

    Love Annette x
