Central Permanent Tarsorrhapy to Right Eye

I hope I've spelled this right. I am having the above procedure tomorrow having had my right eye sewn shut since January with a temporary tarsorrhapy. It's because of a squamous cell carcinoma which means my eye won't shut on its own and was constantly getting infected. I'm now on eye drops several times a day. Has anyone had any experience of this procedure? Does it help or should I prepare for permanent loss of vision in the affected eye? I'm trying to be positive and failing so far. Thanks for listening.

    Hi

I hope your procedure has gone well today and that you've got answers to your questions. If not, I would post your question in the eye cancer group, this is the link Linkcommunity.macmillan.org.uk/.../

Another alternative would be to ask an expert here at Macmillan. This is the link to contact https://www.macmillan.org.uk/about-us/contact-us

I wish you well for your recovery Anna Mary,

    A x

  • Hey, I did a search of the whole forum and nothing found for Tarsorrhaphy :-(  The search box is quite hidden away.  Many people don't know it's there.

I hope it's gone ok for you today, AnnaMary.  I just can't imagine this scenario.

  • Thank you. I now have one eye permanently sewn shut . I'm struggling a bit with it just now but I hope I'll bounce back given time. Thanks for responding.

  • Well, its over, which is a good thing. They've done a really neat job which is a bonus.I'll dig into it more tomorrow. Thank you for your reply.
