I am so sorry to let you know that I have had a message from Ian's wife (Gragon on the site) has died peacefully in St Catherine's Hospice in Scarborough.
My husband and I met him for lunch while we were on holiday, July 2021 & July 2022. We had been virtual friends since 2012 and it was terrific meeting him in person.
He was still messaging me up to recently from the hospice and was very comfortable.
Please pass this on if you know anyone in the Kidney Group etc who knew him. Another bright star in the sky!
Annette thank you for passing on this sad news, it is never an easy task to be the messenger in these circumstances. I hope you are ok x
Gragon was such a support to me when I first joined the incurables, many years ago. He was also a huge support when I lost my good friend Gina. I learnt a lot from him, he was always so caring and thoughtful. He will be missed x
Hi Annette, I'm afraid I didn't know Gragon, but hearing about the death of any one of cancer is a sad time, please pass on my condolences.
Thank you all, I will pass your messages along with the Kidney Group ones on to his wife and son.
He was indeed a big man with a big heart Ellie. The first time we met him in person, he was like a friendly giant with a quiet voice. Last year he had lost a lot of weight and looked quite fragile but still as caring as always. His wish was to end his days in the hospice as he didn't want the house to be a sad place for his young son. He got his wish!
Love Annette x
