Went for my second treatment of this cycle yesterday - I am doomed to never get the second treatment. Low blood platelets again. So sent home again empty veined!
They have already reduced the dose to 80% to see if that helped - didn't it seems.
Now I have to wait for review on 7th to discuss what can be done - reduce further to 75%, or change to one treatment every 3 weeks instead of 2 in 3 weeks, maybe try fortnightly. I am also due scan next Sat, but of course I wont get results till about 21st, so is all dancing in the dark in terms of knowing if the damn stuff is helping or not. I felt deflated yesterday, but ironically, despite no steroid boost today, I felt quite energised this morning and ravenous all day for once. To get platelets up I need to eat plenty of leafy greens and eggs, oily fish etc. Trouble is when chemo changes your taste buds and depresses appetite it is hard to do what is neccesary. However I have 2 weeks now to hopefully enjoy food, feel less fatigued and get them back to normal. Feels like a merry go round at times.
Hope other people are having better time with treatments.

Thanks Flippen, that was a massive reduction then - and here you are in stable mabel club. Fingers crossed.

Yep, I love food usually so is hard not to fancy anything. I have now vowed to do a daily smoothy with spinach, fruit and ginger to try to keep platelets high no matter what. And just have to glug it no matter what the taste is.
Yes it was a massive reduction but got there in the end which goes to show don't give up!!even though it's so frustrating at times having my treatment on a weekly basis was so tiring as my body never got a chance to recover but I cracked on with it also I get where you are coming from with eating as appetite went out the window feeling sick all the time and when I did all I could taste was a metal taste but you fight on so don't give up or despair I know you are a fighter and like me you will get there in the end xx
You will get there OBS even though it's a slog. It's so frustrating for you. You might try Spinach & Sorrel soup, if you can get the Sorrel - which is lovely. I do a lot of Greek food and was wondering if you can manage cheese? The Feta, Spinach & rice pies they make taste lovely - with a lot of extra spinach packed in. They work with any cheese. Apologies for spelling, but they're called Spanakopita. Rainie x
I can manage anything when my appetite isnt depressed by chemo. So yes - love those little pastries. Had mushroom filled ones yesterday, Bought myself a juicer today, so smoothies here I come too,
Thanks everyone for your sympathies, mcuh appreciated.
