Hi all,
Hope the new year has started well for you. A quick update from me after completing my radiotherapy end of November. I had my usual 2 monthly CT scan for my immunotherapy trial on 29th Dec. I wasn't expecting there to be much of a change on the tumours as it's still early days and radiotherapy is still doing its thing.
The doctor told me there was shrinkage which I was very happy to hear but didn't elaborate and then proceeded to tell me that the CT had picked up inflammation in the tissue of my lung.
He asked if I was experiencing any new symptoms. I told him I have been getting a little more breathless but I put this down to doing very little exercise during my recovery period. I went out for a walk with my husband and had to return home after only 10 minutes. I usually walk to work every morning which takes 30 minutes.
They said they are going to treat it as Grade 1 Pneumonitis with careful monitoring every few days and in the meantime start on antibiotics.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else on here? I've been reading up a little about it and hoping as they've identified it early that the antibiotics will do the trick as he warned me that immunotherapy will stop if it goes to Grade 2.
Talk about 1 step forward 2 steps back!! Being very lazy, copied & pasted from update on Lung forum
Well a bit of shrinkage is always welcome but I can see you can do without the other thing. It does seem that antibiotics can see it off so I suppose you just have take it easy. Have virtual runs everyday, just look out of the window and pretend you are pounding the streets!
Always good to hear from you little-fi xx
These developments seem very trying, but it's good that it was picked up on the CT and is being dealt with, rather than getting worse. Meanwhile it seems the radiotherapy is having the right effect which is just what you want to hear. I hope you start to feel livelier soon and the antibiotics hammer this quickly. All the best. Rainie x
Nearly choked on my wine there I couldn’t run for a bus! I did do a 45 minute walk today which was tough but felt good to do too. Apparently it’s important to keep active as you can get problems with leg muscles! Can’t afford to lose anymore muscle.x
45 mins when you are not at your best is good, round the block once a day to keep everything as it should be is wise.
Drinking wine, are you taking this seriously? Keep it to a bottle a day, apart from weekends obviously! Best not to say that tomorrow!
Best wishes xxx
