Lovely Morning Chit Chat Thread - May 2026

Good evening Lee, 

no date as yet for my plastic surgery on my eyebrow. Waiting with baited breath. Have to get a bone scan too as well now. A wee lump showed up on my breastbone. Have come to the conclusion it has not exactly been a stellar week. Good news is that my oldest girl will come home next Friday for the bank holiday weekend. Can’t wait for it. Bloods were too low for treatment today so my Oncologist has decided we are moving to a 5 week schedule. 3 weeks tablets and of course the monthly injections into the unmentionable and now 2 weeks recover time for the neutrophils to recover to an acceptable level. Never a dull moment. 

Eddie kindly sent me a photo of Lilly with an umbrella. We were chatting and I mentioned that the furry one would not go outside when it is wet. Oh well move aside Gene Kelly, there is a new’Singin in the Rain’ star on the Horizon

Hi Angie, sorry to hear that your plastic surgery operation hasn't happened yet. To complete the double whammy, your bloods are too low for treatment from the oncologist.

I fully understand how you're feeling regarding your low blood levels. My bloods have been low for years but even worse I've recently experienced the lowest bloods ever! I've been having weekly injections for 11 years to encourage my bone marrow to produce more red blood cells and for about the last 4 years, more weekly injections to encourage my bone marrow to produce more white blood cells, in particular neutrophils. 

For the red cells, my injection is called Aranesp and for the neutrophils the injection is called Nivestim.

Hope you get sorted out as soon as possible Angie.

Hi Angie,  sorry to hear about the op not happening yet and the lump.  I have had lots of those bone scans not my favorite scan as they make me feel claustrophobic.  There was another lady asking about the five week cycle as her neutrophils were too low.  She has three on and two off.  I had filgrastim injections for my neutrophils.  Are you still on palbociclib? I am on ribociclib.  I really hope you enjoy your time with your daughter.  Lilly looks so cute with her umbrella.  Hope everyone has a good weekend, weather looking good.  Hope you are doing okay Tvman and your blood levels pick up.

Hi Lee, the injection for my neutrophils is also 

filgrastim (NIVESTIM) 48 million units/0.5 mL (480 micrograms) pre-filled syringe

The brand name is Nivestim as you can see from part of my medication list above.

Hi Angie, you really didn't have a good week but there always seems to be things to look foward to even when we are down. Enjoy the time with your daughter.

yes I am still on Palbociclib 75mg Capsules. Can’t tolerate a higher dose and on Fulvestrant 250ml/5ml solution. Fingers crossed the extra week will give my bloods a better chance to recover. The strength I am on is the best balance so far to work with my immune suppressant medication. On antibiotics at present and they make me so, so tired. Should feel the benefit towards the end of next week Just in time for my daughter to come home for a few days .

Thank you so much Rose, it is very much appreciated. Greetings from Scotland to you in Ireland. I lived over there for over 20 years and loved it very much. We lived in Northern Ireland, but I remember spectacular weekends in Dublin, mostly for the Rugby.  My dear friend Eddie is so good at sending me images of Lilly in different settings. He calls her ‘Her Highness’ because she is a wee bit spoiled . Mind at his last visit she actually went over to him to say hello. It took me very much by surprise since she does not tolerate other people in my house as a rule, especially my grandchildren. 
Sideways can join our club of 4 legged knights and ladies of the round table. Stella’s Winston is Lilly’s virtual boyfriend and we have much fun with that sometimes. Anything for a laugh and a lighter mood. They are officially King Winston and Queen Lilly thanks to Eddie’s photos.

My immunotherapy has been paused while Rheumatology and Oncology try to manage the arthritis it causes. Meeting the rheumatologist tomorrow so

Morning everyone I am up early to take the dogs for a walk but just looked at the thermometer and it is 30 degrees already.  Even though the woods is shaded and cool I am in two minds.  We have a flock of green ring neck parakeets living wild and two come into the garden every day.
