As ever, in memory of Ellie. Everyone is welcome to chit chat, share experiences or recipes, whatever you need

  • Oh Patrick that is so beautiful and very Germanic ThumbsupGrinningxx Hope your weather is more kind to you than it is here today. Sleet, hail and very strong winds. Hope Eddie, or should I say Captain Pugwash, is not getting bounced to much around on his Isle cruise.
Wishing you all a cosy and good weekend. Love and a hug from

  • Quick update. My options have expanded to include surgery.

    1) chemo with no surgery (very low chance of success since I am unable to eat and reliant on IV nutrition I am unlikely to tolerate chemo)

    2) surgery followed by chemo (improves chemo chance of success and restores my ability to eat ... aka quality of life. There's no telling how much small bowel I will have left so nutrition may still be a problem).

    3) hospice

I'm not ready to give up. I'm just not there yet. So surgery seems like the way to go. At least I will get some quality of life for whatever time is left.

So that's what I'm doing. Surgery is scheduled April 6. So very soon. I guess that gives me less time to worry!

I'm really excited to get this opportunity. Even if it doesn't give me more time... I'm hoping for better time and that's worth it.

I love all the companion animal pics and the lovely flowers... still too cold here for flowers!

  • Hiya Susan,

it is great news that you can get the operation followed by chemo. Your team is certainly on the ball with your scheduled date. No wonder you are excited about the opportunity. No doubt not only myself, but everybody else will be keeping you in their thoughts. Is your hospital near your home or do you have to travel further afield for it? Enjoy your weekend and hopefully the flowers will bloom soon at your little corner of the world. Love from

  • Hospital is about an hour and a half to 2 hours away by car. It is the University of Michigan Hospital... no one less expert would even consider attempting surgery. They were my last chance.

I am delighted to get another chance. I accept that I'm incurable but I am not ready to be terminal. Too many beautiful cats and dogs to still be admired!

  • Hi Susan

Great to hear your update! I am so glad you have an option for surgery. Hope the weather will improve for you soon and there will be flowers when you had your operation.

  • Morning.  Glad that you have the chance of surgery and chemo Susan, good luck for 6 April.  So nice to hear from you Eddie, we miss you .  Hope you are still recovering, one day at a time Stacy.  How are you doing Stella?  Hope our king, queens, Peaky Blinder and Knights of the round table are still keeping the order in their realms.

    Lee x

PS love the tree Patrick, I did this at Christmas, might go and buy some Easter decs as well.

  • I am doing well Lee. I went to the physio on Thursday. She said I am already doing really well, and gave me a few exercises to do. Who knows standing on one leg while keep your eyes closed are so hard!

We have discovered a new bakery owned by a lady from Malta. Her sourdough bread is so delicious. Maybe it is good that it is 15-20 mins drive from us. Appearantly they have different technique for bread/ cake making in Malta.

How are you doing? Hope the treatment is not too bad for you. Xx
