Hi everyone,
Just setting up a new chat thread for November. If you would like to catch up on October's chat you can click here. Please note that it's now locked, so you won’t be able to reply to that thread.
The chit chat thread is for: Daily Life chit chat for bloods, scans, appointments, going shopping, cutting grass, reading, watching some thing decent on TV - whatever your day has in store for you. That is daily life!
Hi
Craig and I went to a farm shop / cafe today for lunch and bought some nice cuts of meats from their butcher.
Then unexpectedly the consultant’s nurse called this afternoon and offered me an appointment tonight .
So the MRI scan also indicated a few mm growth. He said it was unclear whether this is cancer cells or the mucin they produce. He will take it to the MDT team and a specialist radiologist to discuss further. He feels the chemo is still working and best to continue on. But to have another scan after 4 cycles instead of 6.
All sounds not too bad. I don’t have to think about it until the new year. We discussed 2nd opinion and trials and he is very supportive of them. So will get to them when time comes.
I think it is going to take me sometime to digest and hopefully moving on quickly from the news.
Hope everyone is keeping well.

“The chemo is still working” is the main takeaway from that Stella which certainly is good news . Great that it can be put back in the cupboard now until the new year
I have a friend on a drug trial at the Christie hospital in Manchester (not far away from me) for bowel cancer at the moment - she’s doing well . She was inoperable at initial diagnosis but is hopeful that the trial drug may result in sufficient shrinkage to enable surgery
Now time to start planning your festive season menus !

Hi Stella , like Lucy says the chemo is still working is what you need to hear. You sound like you have a very proactive oncologist which is great. I think half the battle is if you trust your oncologist. The first time I had cancer I wasn't very keen on the oncologist she was scary . She told me straight you have a 50.4% surviving this after 5 years. So 12 years later I am still here. This time the oncologist is great and I can talk to him and I trust him. Hope everyone and your fur babies stay safe with the fireworks tonight.

Hi
Thank you Lucy and Lee. You are both right and I need to concentrate on the positives. I was all made up etc to go into Cambridge for a shopping spree and lunch. The started to come down with a cold! So turned back home and resting instead. At least it is just a cold not flu. I was going to make some nice food and an apple dessert but feeling too tired. Just had some noodles with prawns instead.
I think I will get a 2nd opinion from another oncologist in London. He is more specialised in radiotherapy and has been helping patients suing NHS for not proving proper care. So a bit of maverick!
Good night x
Hi Stella, don't get all stressed out because of a minimal growth. You have every right to get a second opinion but going to London, waiting for results will stress you too. Your current oncologist sounds good, why not try and arrange a longer chat with her/him, sound out the options in a calm atmosphere?
Anyway, when is your next trip planned? If all goes well I will be back in Thailand next year and a week in Vietnam.
Hey your cold is stress, just relax
