Yesterday I had my first immunotherapy/chemo treatment. Everyone was wonderful and the experience so far has not been a tenth of the scarey stuff I expected. I am now rightly or wrongly feeling a lot more positive (as a few of you mentioned I would). The one phrase that has really stuck in my mind was " Remember you are not dying of cancer, you are living with cancer". Possibly said to hundreds before me but I found it a comforting statement. Next treatment in 3 weeks. I have started my journey.

Thank you for all the support here and I wish all of you the very best.

  • I do believe that the first chemo/ immunotherapy treatment hits you the hardest, and it gets easier as you go on. It’s a huge shock to your body, having all these drugs thrown at it at once. Take each day at a time, and take it easy. X

  • Hi JD,  like Chelle says rest and take it easy, if you feel like staying in bed, stay in bed.  Big hugs.

  • Hi JD, Please remember this is not a “quick fix” and you will be good one day and not so good another day, so rest when you need to and don’t overdo things on the good days. I call the journey you have just started “ a roller coaster trip” with its ups & downs, so hang on at the bumpy bits and enjoy the flat bits. At the end of your post you said “I wish all of you the best” it sounded as if you were off somewhere! Remember we are always here for the good and bad days, so please share them both, it may help someone else who haven’t started yet! Keep in touch!

  • Thank you for the sage advice xxx

  • Yes looking back it did sound a bit grim.

I really do appreciate you all being there. I just wish I was in a position to help others with their journey. The good news I had yesterday is that I don't have breast cancer as well, so one less thing to worry about xx
