Hi everyone...it's rather a relief to find this particular community.Ive had a bit of negativity on other forums when I had a little rant about the first cycle of my Chemo being cancelled last week (on the day) because someone forgot to order the drugs in time.I should say I'm a retired Theatre Nurse specialising in Anaesthetics so being lectured on how I need to understand the strain the NHS is under was a bit of an insult because I KNOW but it doesn't stop the feeling of being let down. The fiasco has sent me into a bit of a downward spiral I'm afraid after feeling until then the staff etc were there for me and I could rely on them.

So it's lovely to be here and hopefully be accepted warts and all Hugging

  • Hello

I think your feelings are perfectly acceptable. We mentally prepare ourselves for treatment and then feel totally deflated when it doesn’t go ahead for whatever reason….I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through it can fully understand…that’s why this forum is so fab, everyone has been there in one way or another

Don’t let this bump in the road set you back, it’s happened, enjoy the rest of the week now, you will be back on track next week with your chemo

Feel free to rant away !

  • What a lovely reply L Thankyou...I'm a bit teary at your understanding.I think I'm finding my way back to feeling positive but it's been hard.Im due to start Herceptin and Chemo on 29th May all being well.I live on my own with 2 cocker spaniels ( one is only 5 months old) so given this lovely weather we're about to go for a walk in the fields. They keep.me going.I hope you too have a lovely day...and Thankyou x

  • A walk with pooches sounds perfect and a baby cocker even more perfect!

Even though I’m totally surrounded by love I still find cancer a lonely place - that’s why I joined here

  • Hi Pepperpot, sorry to hear about your chemo, only natural to be upset under the circumstances.

I am new to this group but have already seen the supportive and encouraging nature of so many members, glad you have joined and hope it helps.

  • Hi Pepperpot, warts and all accepted. Welcome to this corner of the site, lots of friendly people all in the same boat. I was diagnosed with an incurable bone marrow cancer in March 2015 and 3 months later I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and that put me in a wheelchair for 6 years. I only need it now for times that I'd be on my feet for a long period. It's a great shock when you get diagnosed and you need a support group to help you through it. Hope you're happy in the group so take care Pepperpot and we'll speak again.

  • Thankyou TVman your own story is a warrior one, well done you.I already feel this forum will understand my story and Thankyou for your reply.

  •  Sorry big old rant coming !!

I am so sorry that happened to you! That is disgusting that the chemo wasn’t ordered. Yes the NHS is under pressure, but so are we trying our hardest to stay alive!! I am fuming for you, and for everyone else that feels bloody invisible living with this disease! You are important! Your treatment is important and mistakes like this should never happen, EVER!!!!

Wow I feel better now that’s off my chest. Welcome to the group.

  • Hi Pepperpot, and a warm welcome from me, to the nicest bunch of people on the forum, PS, I'm on 12, and sadly, though I'm so sorry about your chemotherapy debacle, many of us could share a similar story or two, but all are very welcome here,"though it would be great if  these places weren't needed," and feel free to let off steam anyway you like, anything that helps you through these disappointments goes, on here, we all find ways of managing the dark times. We have many guys on here with furry friends, myself included, and know how important they are in our lives, and I'm certain you'll get to know many of them this is Poppy, my Jack Russell, doing what she does best

  • Ohh Poppy looks so peaceful. My dogs mean the world to me and I feel very lucky to have them to give me a reason to walk in nature.Scout the puppy is 5mths old sadly I got diagnosed a few weeks after getting him.I spent ages thinking about a second dog and in the end took the plunge. Both dogs have good homes to go to , but I'm hoping to be around just to get puppy into adult hood.
