I spend a lot of time indoors, in front of the tv. I am a bit of a soap addict, with Eastenders being my favourite. But I am always looking for new things to watch, so thought I would start a thread to see what you have been watching, any good recommendations that might interest anyone.
Well I cannot believe what I watched today. Half a dozen women who have paid about a quarter of a million pounds each, to get in a rocket and go on an 11 minute journey into space! My thoughts were anything could go wrong, and their lives could be over in seconds, and what an awful waste of money and what good that sort of money could do! Would be interested to hear others view point on this.
I think this when I watch the yearly climbs on everest...money, lives at stake, commercialism...so I see where ur coming from.
I won't get on my soap box.. ...each to there own I suppose.
You know, when I look around my town, the victorian money men built and supplied libraries, schools etc...they still lived in their big houses and many workers grafted very hard for little reward...but something was given into local societies
Now it's all me, me, me...celebrity etc...
I know some do give to charity and good causes...
Crazy world...
Hi Chelle & Everyone, I will leave my soapbox in the cupboard but what really gets to me is when you hear what some footballers get per month as a salary when all they do is play football or how much a ‘so called celeb’ is paid for a 5 minute appearance. I think it is criminal when you think of surgeons, consultants, doctors nurses etc saving lives every day or caring for people and are getting a pittance in comparison. People used to care for others but now more people seem to be only interested in themselves! Rant over!

I agree Annette. Don’t ever worry about getting on your soap box, I love reading a good rant!
I am watching The feud on channel 5, started last night, I think there are 3 parts. It’s about a group of neighbours who are falling out over a house extension. Lots of secrets being unearthed. It’s quite good, an easy watch.
Hi Chelle, luckily I don’t rant often! I had taped Grace and just got round to watching it last night. It is a bit slow (like most programs these days) but the story lines are quite good. Has anyone else watched it? What do you think? My husband says it is like pulling teeth and also the cast all talk n whispers! Well we can’t all like the same things?

Hi Stella, I also enjoyed Blue Lights and in the same vein there's Line of Duty which is also filmed in Belfast. There is a new series of Line of Duty and filming of that is starting soon. Mastermind is a favourite of mine and Mrs Tvman's and if you look at the end credits, you'll see that it is also recorded in Belfast. Although I don't live there now, I was born in Belfast and lived there for 21 years until I married Mrs Tvman almost 46 years ago.
In Line of Duty the police headquarters is filmed in the formidable building of Belfast's main library where I spent many hours reading and researching for homeworks whilst at school. It's great to watch Line of Duty and work out where exactly scenes are being filmed.
I'm very proud of my association with Belfast which has improved greatly since the Troubles ended. I would never have believed that so many new hotels have been built due to the fantastic rise in tourism.

anndanv we are making our way through Grace at the moment, but we are a series behind the current one. We started watching the new series then realised we hadn’t watched the last one, so have gone back to watch that. I really like John Simms, I think he’s a great actor. He was in a really good series called life on mars where he played a police officer who was in a car accident, and when he woke up he was back in the 1970’s.
Hi Chelle, Yes I watched Life on Mars and I also like John Simms. I’m sure you will enjoy watching Grace. We seem to like similar things and I have watched that from the beginning! The weather here last week was lovely and people started to wear shorts summer dresses etc Tuesday it rained most of the day but it wasn’t cold. Yesterday we got the tale end of the storm that hit the Canary Islands last week. It was like back to winter. People wearing long coats hats gloves etc it was freezing! Hope you all still have some good weather.

Morning Chelle, I haven't replied to your thread as I don't watch TV apart from golf, so it's majors time again and have just finished watching the first one of the year, The US Masters, one of the best tournaments I've ever seen, won by Rory McKilroy, our second favourite Ulsterman after tvman, PS, I saw Annette and you were a little miffed as to how much footballers earn, Rory won a few million dollars for winning, but who should get the money these events generate, the players or the suits.
love Eddie xx
